World of Warcraft – Item Upgrading The item upgrade lets players increase the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and add a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln. Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in frigid environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with your friends. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first then their secondary gear and finally other equipment that they won't replace anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding the items to upgrade, players must also consider their class's preferred statistics. For example, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm. Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level once they're no longer needed and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
